Library Assistant
The West Grey Public Library is seeking a team member who is excited about learning, inspire the people around them, and can thrive in a technologically evolving environment. Our staff are passionate about helping our community.
The Library Services Assistant is the main point of contact with the public, responsible for direct delivery of library services to the community, including circulation of materials, inquiries, resources, assisting with programming and special projects, technical help and assistance of patron in a pleasant and effective manner. The Library Services Assistant may work alone for some shifts and will be required to work at other branches as scheduled.
- Uses circulation system to record new members, loans, returns, charges and fees
- Assists with programming and other special projects
- Uses digital library resources, catalogue and online account
- Relieves at other branches as needed
- Is responsible for library patrons and facilities (client concerns, security, closing etc.) as required
- A high school diploma preferred or an Excel certificate from Ontario Library Services with some related job experience
- Thorough, practical, knowledge of current technologies and devices
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in customer service is an asset
- Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation
- Part-time approximately 15 hours a week and Saturdays. Flexibility to work additional hours preferred.
